Soil beneath the forest is very poor in nutrients. So how does one of the richest ecosystems on the planet survive? The forest floor is shaded. Mosses, ferns and seedlings compete for light and space. Yet high in the forest, the canopy is thick and lush where many forms of flora and fauna thrive. Trees that grow up to 60 metres reaching for light, support the vibrant canopy.
A recently installed elevated boardwalk offers a new dimension of
being able to view the upper canopy of the forest, host to many
species of plants that cling on to the trees for life and sunlight.
Predators lie in wait for birds and insects that are attracted to an
abundant food supply. Cyclones devastate tropical rainforests,
yet have a major role in their survival.
Walk a four kilometre trail through
pristine rainforest with a naturalist
rainforest guide, skilled with the
knowledge to interpret the
complex rainforest ecology in
a way you can understand and
appreciate. Join us, it's a fun,
informative experience.
